Home School Lunch & Learn and Science Monday at Chattahoochee Nature Center

Create a Recycled Treasure at Alpharetta Arts Center at Crabapple Government Center

Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department is sponsoring “Create a Recycled Treasure,” an art workshop fo children age 3 to 5 years (must be accompanied by an adult).   The worksho will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 10am to 11:15am.  Kids, let your imaginations go wild as you create a special piece of art out of found objects.  Bring small objects from your “junk” drawer – buttons, beads, bottle tops, photos, etc. to create your own unique piece of art.  All other supplies are provided.  Space is limited – pre-registration is required.

Target Family Thursdays at High Museum of Art

In coordination with the Woodruff Arts Center’s Target Free Thursday program, the High Museum of Art will offer free admission to all walk-up visitors on the first four Thursdays in September (1, 8, 15, and 22). Enjoy educational programming from all the Woodruff Arts Center divisions?Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, High Museum of Art and Young Audiences – for free or reduced pricing. For each of these Thursdays, in addition to free admission, the High will offer expanded Toddler Thursday workshops, access to the Greene Family Learning Gallery, special family tours from 4 to 6 p.m. and art-making workshops for teens.

Toddler Thursdays at The High Museum of Art

September 22: Purple – Plum, lavender, and lilac are all different shades of purple. What shades will you use to make your purple drawing?
September 29: Red – Create a quilt design on paper that is infused with the color red.

Stroller Cubs at Zoo Atlanta

Bring your little one on an early learning adventure as we stroll through the Zoo. Visit animal exhibits, and meet a friendly animal ambassador up-close during a special introduction to wildlife for our littlest guests. Adults socialize while kids enjoy playtime! 45th Annual Roswell Arts Festival at Roswell’s Historic Town Square

This annual event, sponsored by the Roswell Recreation Association, features continuous performing arts as well as artwork and crafts for sale. There will be a continuous shuttle

Taste of Smyrna – Festival of Delectable

We can’t say farewell to summer without a proper sendoff: The Taste of Smyrna is food, fun and music all day long! Nibble and nosh your way around the Village Green on Sat., Sept. 17 from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Admission is FREE and samples can be purchased from .50 up to $4.
Plan to sample all Smyrna’s finest restaurants and listen to music all day long all on the beautiful Village Green and the Market Village. Be sure not too miss the popular and always entertaining Fancisco Vidal Band in concert performing on the Main Stage at 7:00 p.m. And we haven’t forgotten about the kids.  They will have a blast in the Kids Zone with interactive inflatables featuring the 33′ Shark Slide, Euro Bungee Quad Jump, 24′ Rockwall, 120′ Roller Coaster Obstacle Course.

Sandy Springs Festival at Heritage Green

WHEN: September 17th from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm and September 18th from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
WHERE: 6075 Sandy Springs Circle, Sandy Springs, Georgia
The event is a yearly fundraiser benefiting Heritage Sandy Springs, a non-profit organization serving the community. Aside from the live entertainment, food, children’s games and rides, and artist market, the 2011 Sandy Springs Festival will feature an interactive civil war encampment. In July 1864, more than 80,000 soldiers crossed the Chattahoochee and set up camp in the fields and farmlands of our community. Professional re-enactors from The Battle of Atlanta, Inc. will share their knowledge of camp life including cooking, music, marching and drilling. Festival visitors of all ages will be able to interact with soldiers and civilians, men and women, who will share their knowledge of what actually happened here in Sandy Springs.
