Pirate Days at Georgia Aquarium

Batten down the hatches! Pirate Days is returning to Georgia Aquarium, Sept. 24-25, 2011! Kids 12 and under dressed in pirate costume receive FREE general admission to the Aquarium!* We are setting sail for an amazing and educational journey around the Seven Seas and our very own One World Ocean! Join Georgia Aquarium for a full weekend of pirate fun, Sept. 24-25, as we circle the globe and learn about our rivers and oceans, the unique animals that inhabit them and what you can do to help with the conservation of all aquatic life.
Georgia Aquarium’s Pirate Days weekend invites all curious swashbucklers to join our scurvy pirates and mascots as we raise awareness for Georgia Aquarium’s 4R Program, which promotes rescue, rehabilitation, research and responsibility. Bring a $5 minimum donation for our 4R Program and receive a special Arrrrrrbrushed tattoo!
Walk the plank with fellow pirates in pirate parades and join in the fun with pirate-themed arts and crafts, games, storytelling and more! Get your best pirate costume together and enter the costume contest for your chance at some sweet prizes.

Boogie Woogie Bullfrog at Atlanta Botanical Garden

Crafty Carnivorous Plants at Chattahoochee Nature Center

From 1 – 2pm, join a Naturalist to explore the fascinating world of carnivorous plants!  Tour our Pitcher Plant Garden to discover why these plants eat insects, how they attract them and get a peek inside the plant to seewhat happens next.  Then complete your Carnivorous Plant Hike by creating a kooky carnivorous plant craft to take home.

Faery Home Construction at Oakhurst Community Garden Project

Join artist Helen Goldberg and Mandi Elwood for a magical morning in the garden creating natural faerie houses. Each child will get to take a faerie abode home while helping to create a new settlement in the garden. Participants will explore the terrain and natural textures as they learn and choose materials for their mystical mansions. Faerie snacks will be served. This class is suitable for ages 5-9 and it is a drop off class. Please bring your own 8″ or larger terracotta plant saucer to the class to transport your faerie home.

Kidsfest 2011 Featuring Laughing Pizza at Avondale Estates Downtown
