Who?
The 7th Annual Scarecrow Harvest is a time when our community comes alive with whimsical scarecrows. Accredited K-5 Schools create approximately 100 scarecrows each year.

In addition to the students, we invite businesses, non-profit organizations, neighborhoods, families and individuals to make scarecrows. Anyone is welcome to design a scarecrow personality and join in on the fun!

What?
MAKE A SCARECROW out of whatever materials, design and display in front of a building, hiding behind a bush, washing a window, or even climbing a tree. The event is absolutely free and only needs your creativity!

All you need to do is complete a simple application and we will add you to the Scarecrow Locator List on the City website for all to see.

SCARECROW HARVEST EVENT on Sat, October 6 from 10am – 2pm is a thank-you event to the students and community for creating scarecrows. FREEfamily merriment includes groovy country music with High Cotton, games of crow-cornhole, hay rides to the log cabin, quirky face painting, historical demos, artsy activities, stimulating story-telling, and engaging inflatables.

At 12pm, SCARECROW AWARDS and prizes will be given to Accredited K-5 Schools classrooms for Most Creative, Best Constructed, Best Personality, “Go Green” Crow and SchCOOLEST (school with the most participating classrooms) Scarecrows.

Barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and more from Smokejack, A Southern Grill, and fall treats such as caramel apples will be offered.

In conjunction with the event, purchase fresh produce at the Alpharetta Farmers Market by ABA (Alpharetta Business Association).  Participate in ABA’s “Needle in a Haystack” competition with tons of prizes. Scarecrow scavenger challenge begins late September and winners are announced on the Scarecrow Harvest stage on Saturday, October 6.  After the daytime festivities, make plans to return to downtown to dance on the streets with the scarecrows. ABA will continue the downtown festivities into the evening with “Brew Moon Fest” a street dance, brew and shenanigans! For more information, go to www.alpharettafirst.com  .

Celebrating farmers and Alpharetta’s rich agricultural history from 11am to 2pm tour the Future Farmers of American Log Cabin by the Alpharetta Historical Society (www.alpharettahistoricalsociety.org), “plant-a-posy” and old timey demonstrations.

When?
The scarecrow creations begin walking our streets Monday, October 1 and will hang-out around town until end of October. SCARECROW HARVEST street party will occur on Saturday, October 6 from 10am – 2pm.

Where?
Accredited K-5 Schools will DISPLAY SCARECROWS along Highway 9 / Main Street. Businesses, non-profit organizations, home schoolers, scouts, neighborhoods, families and individuals display scarecrows on Academy Street / Milton Avenue or your location.  Follow guidelines for participation on each application, and we will add you to the Scarecrow Locator List.

SCARECROW HARVEST Saturday celebration will be on Milton Avenue in Downtown Alpharetta.
