Zip-a-de-do-dah!! Exciting Expansion To Callaway Gardens’ Treetop Adventure!

Callaway Gardens New Treetop AdventureDouble the Zip Lines; Tickets on Sale Soon for Expansion; Opens to the Public on March 1, 2013!

Callaway Gardens’ extremely popular TreeTop Adventure has been open less than two years but it’s already being expanded.  As of March 1, 2013, guests can go higher, faster and now…over water as they challenge themselves to a day of climbing, zipping and adrenaline pumping.

“Due to tremendous guest response to the original course, we’ve taken the next step by adding more zip lines. The people who’ve tested the new Lake Course love the longer zips,” said Edward Callaway, Callaway Gardens’ chairman of the Board and CEO.  “And, the challenge of the newest, tallest platform, 70 feet in the air, is giving riders speeds of 25 mph.  Combine this with traveling over the waters of Mountain Creek Lake and this addition really provides an even higher level of excitement for our guests.  We’re excited to see guest response.”

The new Lake Course features the addition of five zip lines, the longest measuring 700 feet, and four new obstacles, including a 50 foot ladder.

Now that there are two courses, they have been named to distinguish them.  The original course is the Discovery Course and the new course is the Lake Course, aptly named since it now goes over water.

ADDITIONS TO THE EXISTING DISCOVERY COURSE

The Discovery Course opened in May 2011 with 24 aerial challenges and zip-lines deftly woven into the natural woodlands behind the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center,  adjacent to the beautiful 175-acre Mountain Creek Lake.

“We’ve been listening to our guests.  In addition to the new zip lines, we had some guests wanting choices to make the Discovery course simpler.  Some options have been added to the existing Discovery Course to bypass the most difficult spots,” said Callaway. This brings the total of zip lines and obstacles covering both courses to 25 obstacles and 11 zip lines, one of which is a new escape route for those who cannot complete the course.  This brings the total linear feet of zip lines to more than 3,000 feet, more than double the original course in number and distance.”

Another enhancement is the implementation of the interpretative information.  “Guests of all ages will absorb some fun facts about plants, animals, Native Americans, how to age a tree and more as they wonder around on the ground in the TreeTop Adventure course,” Patricia Collins, director of the Gardens, explained. “Fitting with our mission, we always want people learning while they are having fun.”

TreeTop Adventure allows guests to chart their own course for adventure, from soaring zip-line dashes to swinging bridges and over logs, across ropes, onto nets, suspended disks and more.  It’s the perfect escape for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike, offering up breathtaking sights and heart-pumping flights that will have guests coming back again and again.

The Lake Course of TreeTop Adventure opens Friday, March 1, 2013.  Be among the first to experience the high-flying magic. Just strap into a harness, successfully complete the Briefing Section and begin the adventure.

The cost for TreeTop Adventure Discovery Course is $35* per guest; the Lake Course can be added for $15* per guest.  Gate admission is additional.  Group rates are available. Guests must be at least 54 inches tall and fit into a 48” harness at the waist.  Advanced reservations are suggested and qualify for a discounted gate admission.  Some restrictions apply.  For more information, visit www.callawaygardens.com/treetop.
