The King And Prince Beach & Golf Resort Was As Amazing On 4th Visit As It Was The 1st

When parents go on vacation, it’s either to enjoy time with their kids or to enjoy some time alone, sans kids.   There are few vacation destinations that offer kids a fun and enriching place to stay while at the same time giving parents the setting they need to reconnect and be romantic.   The King and Prince Beach &  Golf Resort on St. Simons Island in Georgia, just a few hours from Atlanta, offers both.

During our most recent visit to The King and Prince, we stayed in an oceanview room which overlooked 3 of the resort’s pools.  I have visited The King & Prince several times but this was my kid’s 2nd visit.  During our stay last summer we stayed in an ocean-view villa (far left in the top photo below) this summer since our stay was just two nights we stayed in a double queen ocean-view room.

When we entered our room, the kids ran straight to the balcony, opened the sliding glass door, and took in the stunning view.  Next thing I hear, before our luggage is in the door, is “let’s go to the beach” and “let’s go to the pool”.   The kids talked over each other in desperation as one tried to convince my husband and I why we should go to the pool and the other, the beach.   After a couple of minutes and after almost running out of my room down to the pool by myself, we decided to go to the beach then the pool.  Tough decision, right?

Before we made it out of our room we saw a large ship which I learned from St. Simon’s Island tour guide Cap Fendig during a previous stay, carries automobiles.  Madelyn loves the ‘guessing jar’ at school and wanted me to tell her how many vehicles I thought were being carried on the ship.. I guess 5,000. She laughed and said 1 million.

As we headed down to the beach we saw a couple getting married on the ocean view lawn outside the Historic building.

So, since within the first 30 minutes of our arrival at The King & Prince, Madelyn saw an enormous ship with 1 million vehicles on it and a ‘princess’ getting married.  She was in heaven.

As we walked on the beach, I as usual, snapped photos of my husband and kids having fun.  Then a beach angel appeared and asked if I would like for her to take a few photos of me with my family.    I practically threw my iPhone at her and said “YES, please!”.    If you were to look through our photo albums, you would think that I have never been on vacation with my family.  Chances are that your family photo albums are about the same.  Finally, I have proof that I went to the beach with my family.. as shown in the bottom left corner of the collage above. 🙂

Every time I have stayed at The King and Prince I have seen a fair share of interesting wildlife.  This time, as I sat blissfully on the sand, the kids brought me handful after handful of tiny hermit crabs.

We were only at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort for two nights this time but we had tons of fun.  Besides playing and swimming in the pools and ocean, we went to the St. Simons Pier to watch the many fishermen (and women) on the pier go through the ups and downs of shark fishing.  The pier is apparently very active after dark and despite that we didn’t see the catch of a shark, I understand that fishermen catch sharks off the pier almost every night.  Here’s an interesting fact I learned from St. Simons Island tour guide Cap Fendig, although there is a large population of sharks in St. Simons Island’s water’s, they do not attack because the eco-system is so great there is ample food available for them without needing to hunt.  Pretty neat, huh?

Staying at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort never gets old.  We always enjoy something new and exciting during our visits there and build memories unlike any other.  If you haven’t been, or even if you have, take time to visit.  You and your kids will love it and chances are that your kids kids will love it too!   Since I learned about The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort on St. Simons Island a few years ago, I am amazed at how many readers and friends tell me that they went to K&P as a child or that a friend or family member got married at The King and Prince.
