Toddler Thursdays at High Museum of Art

Toddler Thursday is excited about Witness: The Art of Jerry Pinkney. Create your book cover before the exhibition opens, and then journey through Pinkney’s many stories as you add a page to your book each week. We’ll choose his illustrations to inspire each project. Toddler Thursday’s occurs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the specified dates below.

October 31
Jerry Pinkney and Alan Schroeder’s Minty: A Story of Young Harriet Tubman
Feel free to don your costumes early, but don’t fret if you forget–there will be plenty of gingerbread people eager to be transformed into your child’s character of choice!

November 7
Book: The Lion and the Mouse, by Jerry Pinkney Join us today as we journey through the jungle of Jerry Pinkney’s Caldecott Medal–winning tale, The Lion and the Mouse. We’ll focus on the king of the jungle, adding yet another masterful page to our very own illustrated book!

November 14
Book: The Patchwork Quilt, by Valerie Flournoy, with illustrations by Jerry Pinkney Snuggle up to today’s project as we read The Patchwork Quilt and create a stamped quilt collage to match!

November 21
Book: Little Red Riding Hood, by Jerry Pinkney Join us as we follow Little Red Riding Hood over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house as we make red collages reminiscent of that oh-so-famous coat!
