Please help raise awareness of this important event by sharing this post with your friends and family!
In the fall of 2013, Kell High School was selected to be a part of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. This program teaches high school students lessons in leadership and charges them with creating an “IMPACT PROJECT” to change the world or their community. The Kell Chick-fil-A Leader Academy students are trying to do this is by planning a community impact project for a worthy cause, namely the troops who bravely serve our country at home and abroad.
Saturday, May 10th will be the culminating activity for the Kell Chick-fil-A Leader Academy students. After a week of festivities during lunch, which include registration for the Twilight Dash, trivia challenges, and even a physical challenge for active military branch representatives, Kell High School will host the “Twilight Dash” in Marietta, Georgia to impact our community and support our troops.
The Twilight Dash is a fun run at night with glow sticks and finger lights in an effort to fund the packaging and sending of 500 care packages for troops overseas. Though a lofty goal, the students who have planned this event felt that that was the sizable impact they seek to have.
Two hours prior to the race, at 6:30, there will be a carnival with bounce houses, face painting, music, and games. At 8:30, the run will begin.
The cost to run is $10 for adults, $5 for ages twelve and under, $8 each for teams of up to five people, and free for veterans and active military personnel.
Registration can be found on the Kell High School Website. Additionally, registration may be accessed by clicking on the image below.
Our goal is to send 500 care packages to troops, so donations of goods or money for shipping to send them will be accepted.
Thanks for posting this story! So proud of these kids for running with a noble cause! Be sure to come on out and be a part of showing the students how great society can be!!
