5 things that will make hiking with kids fun!

  1. Make sure your kids are well hydrated.  Give each child a full water bottle before heading out on your hike and remind them to take sips during your hike.  Dehydration can cause headaches and a cranky kid!
  2. Bring lots of snacks.  Dried fruit, nuts, and peanut butter crackers are great snacks during a hike.
  3. Wear sunscreen.  Even if you think the area where you’re hiking will be mostly shaded, who wants their child to be sunburned after the hike?
  4. Come up with a few things your kids can find during the hike, scavenger hunt style!  This will keep the kids entertained and on the lookout for cool stuff!
  5. Be prepared to stop often to give the kids a break.  Let the kids take a 5-10 minute break for every 20-30 minutes of walking.  This will help them recharge and be ready for more fun!
