During a trip to The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, I had the privilege of meeting and watching local artist Peggy Buchan paint a beautiful work of art while on the Lady Jane boat (photo below). Peggy Buchan, born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia, paints the marshes, wildlife, and St. Simons Island scenery. Peggy can be found creating masterpieces on petite canvasses at the Pier, the Johnson rocks and Epworth-by-the-Sea and now at The King and Prince!
The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is positioned on the dunes of the Atlantic Ocean – with inspiring sunrise to sunset views surrounding the hotel’s property. St. Simons Island artist Peggy Buchan is scheduled for four upcoming weekends as she instructs about how to capture the beauty of the Georgia Coast through paintbrush and canvas. With many years of experience painting the tranquil scenes for which the Golden Isles are known, the four themed classes are scheduled for up to (10) people, making instruction personal and focused.

Advance reservations are required. If you bring your own supplies, the cost is $35 per participant. The cost is $55 per participant if you’d like Peggy to furnish your supplies.
If you bring your own art supplies, please include paints (either oil or acrylic), brushes, and brush cleaner. You are welcome to bring your own canvas, but Peggy will supply one 11″ x 14″ canvas per participant. When you reserve your spot, tell the Hotel Concierge whether or not you’ll bring your own supplies.

PEGGY BUCHAN BIO:
Peggy Buchan was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. In 1990, after years of painting off and on, she brought out her supplies and began to paint seriously. Her heart told her that she wanted to capture the peace of the Island. Within a year, her work was being shown at Left Bank Art Gallery. Her husband Dan helped Peggy clean out and prepare a tiny 1820’s tabby building on one of the most renowned and hidden island properties – Couper’s Plantation – and named it ‘Peggy’s Place’. This hideaway was a secret from the rest of the world; a perfect spot for Peggy to paint the marshes, wildlife, and peaceful images that have become her signature style.
