Dr. Oz Focuses on Mind, Body & Spirit in 2015 Season – Kicking Off September 14, 2015

Dr. Oz - Mind, Body & SpiritDr. Oz is well-known for his medical expertise when it comes to caring for our internal organs, but he’s going beyond the body in the 2015 season of his talk show, The Dr. Oz Show.

This year, his seventh season on air, he’s focusing on the mind-body-spirit connection and explaining why that’s so critical for good overall health. It’s something many of us struggle with on a daily basis, especially in our roles as moms, wives, daughters and friends.  It seems our role as a nurturer comes naturally to many, but in taking care of everyone else, we’re forgetting to take care of ourselves. Dr. Oz wants to help you change that in this season’s shows (shown in Atlanta on WSB-TV, Channel2 at 3pm on weekdays). The season kicks off on September 14th.

Imagine someone providing you with a how-to on having it all…a ‘blueprint for balance’, if you will. It’s a season-long initiative for the producers of the Dr. Oz show. You can hear more on the focus in the interview with him below, shot during a recent visit to his set.

Mental health issues are a recurring theme this season, too, as more and more of us battle with issues such as depression and the like. It’s clear mental health goes beyond the individual suffering, forcing our country to suffer, too, as those with mental illness sometimes strike out in very violent ways. How can we help those who need it before they hurt others? It’s a hot topic for Dr. Oz this season.  And we all know how important it is for our children to have a safe place to grow up—a shelter—physically and emotionally–within our home. Well, Dr. Oz wants you to understand why health and happiness starts at home. It’s one thing to say you want it. It’s another to live a life that achieves it.

Dr. Oz on SetThis season’s segments include twists on the undercover camera ‘What Would You Do’ type series that has viewers facing moral dilemmas, issues that many of us may struggle with that may impact our mind, body and spirit in ways we’re not even aware of. For example, what would you do if a mother in a restaurant was pressuring her child, shaming in a sense, for choosing to order foods the mother considers unhealthy. Would you step in? What if the mother was calling that child fat…or saying they won’t have friends if they make pancakes their breakfast choice? Would you intervene then, especially if it is clear that child is upset? Those are the kinds of scenarios caught on video, and now part of the Dr. Oz series.

Dr. Oz is clearly the expert on our physical health, but this season, which kicks off September 14th, our emotional well-being will be taking center stage.

In Atlanta, The Dr. Oz Show airs at 3pm on WSB-TV.
