The Experience

Porsche has always been the standard in European excellence, and now, the company has brought their exclusivity to Atlanta in the form of unforgettable experiences. Throughout the 27-acre facility, you will witness and experience a Porsche unlike even Porsche owners have experienced. You will have the option for one-on-one training which will take you behind the wheel of a Porsche of your choice on the test track with a professional driver or at the Michelin Off-Road Course.  You can hold a business conference or meeting onsite, dine at the top-quality restaurant, meander through the Classic Restoration Center and see firsthand a number of the most remarkable Porsche vehicles the world over.  I was thrilled to find what I am pretty sure is the exact model Porsche I was brought home from the hospital in as an infant 41 years ago, a 1970 911.

Simulators

I had the time of my life on the track as well as in a simulator.  Porsche Experience Center’s Porsche simulators allow you to experience what it is like to drive at many world-renown driving circuits of all time such as Le Mans.  As you sit in the simulator, you will be able to feel every turn and the force of the vehicle.   Really.  I can’t tell you how many times I ran off the road and it’s not just a matter of turning the wheel to get back on the track.  You have to work hard at getting out of the rut you’re in.. and I won’t get into the time my car flipped upside down.   The simulators are so realistic and the technology so advanced that they are used by actual race car drivers to enhance their performance before going to test tracks themselves. You will walk, or rather wobble, away from the simulator experience white knuckled feeling as if you just drove a NASCAR or Formula 1 race.  It’s such an amazing experience!  In order to provide an authentic simulation experience low and narrow cockpits are used which may not be comfortable for a height of more than 6’2” (minimum height is 5’) and a weight of more than 280lbs.

Pricing and Location

Compared to buying a Porsche, a day at the PEC-Atlanta is quite affordable. All pricing will vary greatly depending upon the experience you choose and the type of vehicle you select if you drive an actual Porsche. Simulators cost between $35 per 30 minutes or $60 per hour. Driving a vehicle will cost between $300 and $750 per 1.5 hours. And, if you choose to attend the driving school, it will cost between $1,800 and $6,000 depending upon the package of your choice. Keep in mind that you do need to be 21 to participate and have a valid driver’s license to get behind the wheel of a car and actually drive one at the test track or at the off-road course. The PEC-Atlanta is located near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
