September 11th events

9-11 Memorial Service at City of Alpharetta Memorial Park
WHEN: Sunday, September 11, 2011 1:30 PM
WHERE: 2565 Old Milton Parkway (the front lawn of the public safety headquarters)
The event will be in honor of today’s “First Responders” and in remembrance of those who lost their lives on Sunday, September 11, 2001.  It will be held in the City of Alpharetta Memorial Park at 2565 Old Milton Parkway (the front lawn of the public safety headquarters). This will be a memorable event with a color guard made up of Alpharetta and Milton fire and police personnel, the presentation of colors, the National Anthem, guest speakers being our Mayors from Alpharetta and Milton, State Representatives and Senator John Albers, the placing of a Memorial Wreath, Bag Piper and retiring of the colors with dueling Taps.Please come and give thanks to those who protect us each day and to remember the major event that changed our country and our lives forever. Please bring your families and invite your friends and neighbors.

Roswell Remembers 9/11 with Ceremony at Roswell City Hall
WHEN: September 11th from 8:30 AM?-?10:00 AM
WHERE: 38 Hill Street Roswell, GA 30075
The City of Roswell invites you to join us for a very special event, Roswell Remembers 9/11, on Sept. 11, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Roswell City Hall. The City in conjunction with the Roswell American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Roswell Rotary Club will be hosting the event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States.

Field of Flags at Kennesaw Mountain State Park
WHEN: Saturday September 10th – 16th
WHERE: Processional of Flags from Grace Community Church on Kennesaw Avenue
to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park (approx. 1 mile)
Join us as we commemorate the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 with our third Field of Flags installation. One of the largest commemorative events in the nation, a flag will be placed in Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for each life lost on 9/11. The flags will fly Saturday, September 10th through Friday, September 16th.  See event website for full details.

September 11th Remembrance at Castleberry Hill
WHEN: September 11th at 9:00 AM
WHERE: Mueller Lofts – 376 Nelson St SW
Remember at a memorial event in Castleberry Hill. We will meet outside Mueller Lofts (376 Nelson St SW) at 9:00am to walk to the site for a “Remember Me” rose garden to honor of the victims of September 11th. We will be planting a memorial rose garden. Bring gloves and tools!

9/11 Commemorative Ceremony at Suwanee Town Center Park
WHEN: September 10th at 7:00 PM
WHERE: Buford Hwy at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, Suwanee, GA 30024
Suwanee’s World Trade Center artifact will be unveiled during this commemorative ceremony. The candlelight ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the showing of the movie World Trade Center.
