Pee-Wee Naturalist Fall Series at Chattahoochee Nature Center – Ages 3 & 4

Toddler Thursdays at The High Museum of Art

Friday Jazz with Gary Motley at The High Museum of Art

Recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, and the American Composers Forum, Gary Motley has been featured in Downbeat Magazine and on Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland. His recording credits range from Russell Malone’s Black Butterfly to his most recent recording, Renaissance: A Tribute to Oscar Peterson. He has performed with Benny Golson, Eddie Daniels, Carmen Bradford, Kenny Barron, and Dave Brubeck, among others. A member of the American Federation of Musicians, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and the National Association for Music Education, Gary Motley is the director of the jazz studies program at Emory University, where he has developed The Jazz Studio, an interactive teaching facility that integrates the rich heritage of American jazz with current technology practices. In addition to his work as an educator, Motley continues to work with many jazz industry leaders, performing both in the United States and abroad.

Fall Folklife Festival at Atlanta History Center

Traditional crafts and environmental sustainability are at the center of this year’s Fall Folklife Festival. Visit and shop with local artists who use traditional folk art techniques while adding a modern twist. Local chefs and farmers discuss current culinary trends that focus on farm-to-table food practices and sustainability techniques. The Smith Family Farm site will include hands-on crafts, a petting zoo, farm-to-table activities, storytelling, and live music. Demonstrations of traditional folk arts, including pottery, wood turning, blacksmithing, and basket making are part of this family-fun day.

Magic Monday: Fun on the Farm at Atlanta History Center

Join Zoo Atlanta for an afternoon of learning and discovery designed specifically for homeschool students! HomeSchool Academy is a unique program that allows students to explore animal and science concepts in a fun, interactive environment. Programs are grade-appropriate and include games, activities, Zoo tours and animal encounters. HomeSchool Academy runs monthly on specific days from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., September through May.

Return to the days-gone-by of the American Wild West in this fresh new play by film and Broadway star Jeff Daniels. Thrown together by unfortunate circumstances, an ornery vagrant outlaw and a singing cowboy argue the virtues of mayhem, music, true love, and the meaning of life as they try to live by the cowboy code. This prairie showdown features original songs, as well as scoundrels, six-guns and a horse named Buttermilk.

A Taste of Kennesaw in Downtown Kennesaw

45th Annual Roswell Arts Festival at Roswell’s Historic Town Square

WHERE: September 17?-?September 18 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day
WHEN: Roswell’s Historic Town Square
This annual event, sponsored by the Roswell Recreation Association, features continuous performing arts as well as artwork and crafts for sale. There will be a continuous shuttle
