High Museum of Art Spring Break Drop in Workshops

Spring Break at the High Museum of Art

April  3-8, 1 to 4 p.m.

$5 off admission all week!

From April 3rd to 7th, the High is getting down to nuts and bolts. Léger was fascinated by the parts and pieces of machines. Even some of his artwork turns people into machine-like creatures. During Spring Break week, children will use screws, nuts, and tools to create a cool character. Once they’ve sculpted their Léger-inspired person, they will make a golf project even Pollock would admire. (We’re borrowing some equipment from The Art of Golf to paint some abstract works of art.)

Then on Sunday, April 8th, the High will feature special Second Sunday Family Funday programming. Kids can take an in-depth look at the masterful Miró and Mondrian and use string to create organic shapes and then morph them into fantastic Miró-like characters. Or, make a geometrical Mondrian-inspired sun catcher. After a walk around Picasso to Warhol, swing through The Art of Golf.  Children will see some organic shapes similar to Miró’s artwork in the golf course photographs by Patricia and Angus Macdonald, then create an aerial view of their own course in a workshop.

No registration required. Free with museum admission. Free for members.
