With tears in her eyes as she walked away from my freshman college dorm room on move-in day, my mother hugged me and told me that she would be there for me, no matter what. As a theatre major (with a brother in law school), my parents had never quite understood why I have chosen to follow such a volatile career path. On that day, my mother looked me in the eyes and told me to follow my true passion, but she gave me one condition. I was not to pursue theatre unless I was going to give it 110% of my heart and soul… and never give up. My mom had finally understood my love for theatre, and I will follow her advice until the day that I die.
The best advice my mother gave me after I turned 13 was to hold to my dating standards–I don’t ever need to date a guy looking to change. I should look for someone who meets and exceeds my expectations.
My mother told me to always be true to myself. And that if you surround yourself with people who love you, you can do anything. She is one of the sweetest people on the planet and deserves the very best.
It said I didn’t leave a comment haha so I will rewrite it. My mother has taught me so many things about life. As a teenager, she has helped me deal with the struggles. My mom and I are in love with musical Spring Awakening and what it says about those who are young. I hope to surprise her with tickets to show my appreciation for her. I wish to be an actor in theatre in the future and she always tells me that if you surround yourself with people who love you, you can do anything. She is my biggest inspiration and I love her to death.
