School is back in session in Atlanta and the homework has started. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time helping my kids with their homework. Math to be exact! Math was never my best subject and I still use a calculator for everything. The way math is taught these days makes my head spin! It doesn’t help that my kids are in advanced classes. My 16-year-old is in AP Calculus and my 13-year-old is in Advanced Math 8. It’s clear that their math skills did not come from me – that’s for sure! Their dad is the one with the genius math skills. We joke around that our kids got the reading gene from me and the math gene from their dad.

When you think about it though, if your child is getting the help they need and their grades are improving and their confidence levels are rising, isn’t the investment in a tutor worth it? In my opinion…YES! I would do anything to see my child succeed. I want them to have the best foundation possible for their later life. We have always explained to our kids’ that their education is their job now. No, they don’t get paid to learn, but in the end they get a great education and a great foundation for the rest of their lives.
