Think It Up: Student-Powered, Teacher-Led Projects Paid For With Crowdfunding

Think It UpIt’s pretty common for teachers to spend some of their earnings on items their students need in class, though that’s not the way it’s supposed to work. Staples wants to help change that by giving those teachers everything they need to make them as successful as possible in their classrooms. And there’s a way for you to help, too.

This year, Staples is partnering with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and DonorsChoose.Org on a project to help pay for programs that will put supplies and other items into teacher’s hands.

In Atlanta, Actress Danielle Campbell of The Originals announced the plan at an Atlanta middle school, explaining that Staples, the EIF and DonorsChoose.Org have created Think It Up, student-powered, teacher-led projects that can be paid for with crowdfunding.

Through this, anyone, anywhere, can go online to ThinkitUp.Org to search ideas and invest in projects that will empower students and teachers. Staples and EIF has already flash funded hundreds of DonorsChoose.org projects in the Atlanta Public School district, but teachers around the region and the country are encouraged to enter more, and anyone can go in and contribute.

Just go to DonorsChoose.Org to submit an idea—or to pay for one.

So far, more than a million people have donated $330 million to projects that inspire them.  More than 14 million students have received books, art supplies, field trips, technology, and other resources that they need to learn.
