Dr. Laura Harris is a full-time pediatrician and mother-of-four who says her amazing Au Pair makes it possible for her. Laura and her husband Jack are both busy working professionals, balancing careers and family life in Atlanta. Their four children, ages three through eleven, are active in school, sports and other activities that keep the household schedule busy. For the past few years, they have hosted Au Pairs through the cultural exchange organization CHI Au Pair USA to help keep it all on track.
CHI has been around for more than 30 years and is a designated J-1 visa program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. 23 year-old Alba from Spain is the Harris’ current Au Pair. She has been living with them in their Buckhead home since last May, and has come to be considered a beloved member of the family. Alba watches the youngest child in the mornings, drives the older children to school and activities, and helps with the kids’ laundry, meals, and even grocery shopping. She also often travels with the Harris family on their vacations.
