Spring Break Vacation Ideas with your Preschoolers

Preschool Spring Break

A shift in the weather, blooming tulip fields, and giddy preschoolers all signify that spring break is just around the corner! As the temperature rises so does your preschooler’s excitement for new outdoor adventures and activities. School will be out for a week, and your kiddos will be more than ready to jump into the wonders of spring break!

As a parent of a preschooler, it is always important to remember to choose spring break activities that are both safe and enjoyable for the whole family! Your preschooler is active and constantly looking for something to burn off their energy and play. Spring break is the perfect opportunity to explore and experience events that you don’t typically have time for during the busy school year.

Here are some ideas that you and your preschoolers can use to make the ultimate kid-friendly spring break!

Picnic in the Park

Time to soak up the sun! Now that the wintery weather is gone, your preschoolers can enjoy the great outdoors! What better way to kick off spring break than with a picnic? Grab a large blanket, a picnic basket filled with your child’s favorite foods, and go to your local neighborhood park! Get your preschooler more involved by going grocery shopping and letting your kiddo help pick healthy food options. When you get home from the store, your child can then help you pack the basket! To top off the perfect picnic day, bring a few bread slices to feed the ducks if your selected park is near a pond. Both the preschoolers and the ducks are absolutely guaranteed to have a wonderful time!

A Trip to the Zoo

Lions and tigers, and bears, oh my! Take a trip with your little monkey to your city zoo this spring break! Your preschooler has likely learned about animals in school, so use this as an educational opportunity to test their knowledge and see if they can identify their furry friends. The zoo is a great way to get outdoors and help your preschoolers release some of their energy. There are often petting zoo options at the zoo that gives your preschooler a chance to interact with animals such as sheep, goats, and piglets!

Arts and Crafts

You can never go wrong with turning a spring break afternoon into a “crafternnoon”! Creating slime has been all the rage for young preschoolers this past year. If you are not aware of what slime is, then just know that your kids will love it! Slime can be created by using common household items such as glue, baking soda, contact solution, and food coloring. Use pastel food coloring to make your slime pretty for the springtime! Other fun crafts include using finger paint to make bright flowers. All you need is a large sheet of paper and colorful finger paints. Your child can use their fingers to create the petals. Crafts are a wonderfully tangible way to remember your preschooler’s spring break for many years to come!

Whether you choose to explore the outdoors or stay inside and make art creations, your spring break with your preschooler will be a fun-filled week that you and your little one will cherish!
