In the Nature Store: Garden Kits
Get your garden growing with these fun garden kits. Three varieties to choose from. Crafted locally in Covington, GA! This and all gardening books and accessories are 10% off (20% off for CNC members.)
In the Nature Exchange: Powerful Plants
Plants are pretty powerful. Found out just how amazing plants are in the Nature Exchange in April. Play some plant games and see some of the feats that plants can perform.


Story Time by the River
WHEN: April 4th at 10:30AM
Join volunteers for a fun story time at CNC. Using books, puppets, and other props, they tell stories all about nature. Ages 3 – 5.


Creature Feature – Wildlife Habitats
WHEN: Thursdays and Fridays at 4 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM
All Ages
Spring is here, nature is coming out of her sleep, and animals are exploring their surroundings!  Visit CNC to learn about what native animals need in order to survive.  Visit with one of our non-releasable residents to discover its basic needs.


Trail Hikes
WHEN: Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00PM
A CNC docent guides you on a journey through the CNC trails using biofacts and activities to spark your “natural” curiosity.


Feeding Time
WHEN: Tuesdays and Saturdays at 4:00PM
Join a naturalist for an in-depth look at one of our resident animals as our Wildlife Department feeds them!


Animal Encounter
WHEN: Sundays at 4:00 PM
Learn about the native wildlife living at CNC through a 30-minute live animal presentation with one of our naturalists or docents.


Bio Buggies
WHEN: April 2nd – 5th from 1:30PM-3:00PM
All Ages
Come explore the Bio-Buggies or Bat Trunk!  Discover the fascinating world of insects, birds and bats with hand-on experiments and tools.


4th Annual Cardboard City
WHEN: April 2nd – 5th from 11:00AM – 12:00PM
Ages 4 – adult.
We built this city!  Bring empty cardboard boxes and other recyclable items (tin cans, plastic bottles, PVC pipes and more) to CNC on spring break week.  We’ll work to raise a booming metropolis from everyday items.


Night Hike
WHEN: April 7th from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
$10 General Public, $7 Members. All Ages. Join a naturalist on an outdoor journey to see what happens as the sun goes down and the night comes to life!  Hike through the wetlands or woods, visit with a nocturnal animal up close and enjoy a campfire complete with marshmallow roasting.


STARLAB
WHEN: April 6th  from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Ages 5 – adult. Take a naturalist-led journey through the night sky in STARLAB, our portable planetarium.  Find out what constellations, planets and stars are on tap for the spring.


Spring Native Plant Sale
WHEN: April 13th – 14th from 10:00AM – 5:00PM
Join us at the CNC Greenhouse! Horticulturists and Master Gardeners will be on-site to answer questions.


Earth Day Kids Fest with Captain Planet Foundation
WHEN: April 14th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The whole family will enjoy many ways to connect to nature and learn fun new ways to help the planet.
-Meet Captain Planet, and watch select Captain Planet and the Planeteers episodes in the Cowie Weiss Theater.
-A green Eco-Village marketplace will provide guests a place to peruse an array of earth-friendly household goods and ideas to green both homes and businesses.
-Enjoy live musical entertainment from Laughing Pizza with messages about our Mother Earth
-See live animal presentations with CNC naturalists
-Paddle a canoe on CNC’s Beaver Pond

Home School Science Monday
WHEN: April 16th from 12:30 PM – 3:00 PM
All Ages. Learn over lunch about projects you can do to celebrate Earth Day. Afterwards, head to the Nature Exchange for trading, project help and to solve the science experiment of the month!


Family Bird Walk – Member Exclusive
WHEN: April 21st from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM
All ages.
A CNC member exclusive – join Master Birder and Wildlife Volunteer Zelia Lebeau for a family bird walk.  This morning stroll is perfect for beginning birders of any age.


Fairy Village Workshop: Toad Houses  
WHEN: April 21st 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Ages 6 – Adult
$15 General Public/$10 CNC Members (one adult helper required for participants 12 and under and is included.) Advance Registration Required.
We are inviting toads to stay in the Fairy Village. Make a toad house to take home for the toads around your house. Afterwards, stay and make a fairy house in the village.


Spring Break for Plants  
WHEN: April 22nd – 28th
$10 General Public/$5 CNC Members
Advance Registration Required
Give your house plants a break. Your house plant will “camp out” in a special green house in the Discovery Center, go on nature hikes and watch plant only movies. Plants will also get a little TLC from Horticulturalist Lisa Cole. Plant parents receive daily photo of their plant enjoying camp. Drop off April 22 and pick up April 28. For plants up to 36”. Space is limited.


Earth Day Activities
WHEN: April 22nd from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Join us on Earth Day as we take what we learned at Earth Day Kids Fest and put our knowledge into action!
10 Great Herbs for the Garden: 1pm – 2:30pm
Join Unity Garden Coordinator, Libby Lintel to learn more about growing herbs.  Have fun with a lively game of herb trivia, information on raising herbs in north Georgia, and a tour of the Kaiser-Permanente Unity Garden.  Following the tour, visitors are welcome to grab a trowel and help out in the garden.
Spring Bloomers Tour: 3 – 4:30pm
Enjoy a relaxing and informative hike through the grounds with CNC Environmental Horticulturist, Lisa Cole, to explore the beauty of nature during this exciting time of year.
Wetland Restoration Project: 2pm – 4pm
Ages 5 – Adult
Help us restore our wetlands by removing invasive species from the River Boardwalk Trail.  Limited spaces are available and advance registration is required by April 17.*
Composting Critters: 1 – 2:30pm
Ages 5 – Adult (children age 15 and under require adult supervision)
$15 General Public/$5 CNC Members (price per family, admission not included), Advance Registration Required by April 19*
In this class, dig deep into vermicomposting! Discover how easy it is to set up and maintain your own worm bin by creating one to take home in this class
Earth Balloon: 3 – 4pm
All Ages
There’s no better way to celebrate Earth Day then getting inside the Earth!  Join a CNC naturalist and climb inside Keep Roswell Beautiful’s Earth Balloon to discover what makes this planet so amazing!

All About Nature Social Club

Ages 16 – Adult

Drum Circle
WHEN: April 27th from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
$5 donation requested.
Join us in a new monthly event!  Drum the stars into the sky. Bring your djembe, bongos or other rhythmic instrument and take part in one of the most basic celebrations of music.  All experience levels and spectators welcome.


Family Bird Walk
WHEN: April 28th from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Ages 10 – Adult
Join Master Birder and Wildlife Volunteer Stacy Zarpentine for a bird walk on the CNC grounds.  Bring your favorite binoculars to do a little birding during migration!


Stories with Ms. Julia  
WHEN: April 28th 11:00 AM and 3:00PM
All Ages.
Join Humpty Dumpty and the Eggs and learn the “Humpty Dance” after a silly story time all about animals that lay eggs!


Backyard Campout
WHEN: April 28th 5:00 PM – April 29th 10:00 AM
$45 General Public/$35 CNC Members (price per tent). Advance Registration Required.
Brush up on those camping skills and get ready for the end of school with a camping trip to the CNC!  Sleep out under the stars, enjoy night hikes, play games on the meadow, visit with nocturnal animals, roast marshmallows around the campfire and more!

Nature Merit Badge
WHEN: April 29th from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
$25 per scout
Advance Registration Required. Scouts will discover food webs, discuss the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates in Georgia, learn how and why plants and animals are important to each other and make a plaster animal track to take home!
